Privacy Policy

At Convert.cool, privacy is not a marketing promise — it is built directly into our software architecture.

Summary: How Your Files Are Handled

All image conversion, compression, resizing, editing, background removal, and EXIF processing occurs entirely inside your web browser using client-side WebAssembly, WebGPU, and Canvas technologies. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, stored in remote databases, or transmitted to any third party.

1. File Processing Architecture

Unlike conventional online conversion websites that require uploading your sensitive files to a remote cloud server for processing:

  • Local Execution: When you select or drag-and-drop a file onto Convert.cool, the browser loads the file into its own local sandboxed memory.
  • WebAssembly & WebGPU:Our conversion and neural network engines (including libraw, oxipng, heic-decode, Real-ESRGAN, and U²-Net) compile to WebAssembly and run locally on your device's CPU or GPU.
  • Immediate Discard: Output images are generated locally as Object URLs. Once you close the browser tab or clear the tool, those memory references are instantly released.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Because processing is local, Convert.cool has zero access to:

  • Your image files, photos, graphics, or document contents.
  • Your file names, directory structures, or file sizes.
  • Your personal metadata (such as GPS coordinates, camera models, capture dates, or facial features).

3. Local Browser Storage

We use standard browser local storage (localStorage) strictly to preserve your user interface preferences between visits:

  • Theme Preference: Stores whether you selected light or dark mode (theme).
  • Offline Cache:When using the offline Progressive Web App (PWA), static website assets (HTML, CSS, JS, and AI models) are cached in your browser's Cache Storage so you can use the application without internet connectivity.

4. Telemetry and Analytics

To monitor platform uptime and understand which tools are most useful, we may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as page views or total number of successful conversions). This telemetry contains no personal identifiers, no IP logging, no file names, and no image data.
